Theme: A Call to The Life Abundance
In today’s gospel passage the Lord invites us to come to him and find the rest that would refresh the spiritual thirst of our souls. For the last few months most of us like the people of Jesus’ time are also overburdened with evils injustice, corruption etc. The people of Israel were overburdened with the yoke that was laid upon them by the scribes and pharisees in the form the law which they manipulated it for their own selfishness.
During this season of advent as we look forward in hope for the coming of the messiah, today’s readings once again reassure life, life in abundance for those of us who are open to the invitation of the Lord. The invitation of the Lord comes with the demand to take upon on our shoulders the yoke that he offers. The yoke that the Lord speaks is to imitate the Lord. As Christians we all of us have the duty to follow our master in our day to day lives which includes living the values that our Lord preached and practiced. It mainly includes caring for the weak and the oppressed, as our Lord did. He identified himself with those whom the society rejected and became the source of consolation to all of them, we are also called to become a source of consolation to all those in need. By doing so we experience the abundance of life and also become the sharers of this life with others.
